How to inspire your children to enjoy physical activity?

Recent studies show that only 1 in 3 kids in the UK are physically active every day. This means that most kids in the UK don’t get enough exercise every day. As technology gets better and more common, kids spend more time looking at screens and less time moving around. This is especially scary because childhood obesity, diabetes, and other illnesses are becoming more common.

Kids can benefit from exercise in many ways. It not only helps them build strong muscles and bones, keep a healthy weight, and lower their risk of diseases like type 2 diabetes, but it also helps their mental health and development by making them more motivated, focused, and able to learn.

Encourage your child to be active and love exercise. This will give them the skills and confidence they need to stay active and healthy for the rest of their lives.

Here are a few ways you can encourage your kids to be active from an early age:

Give out active toys

When kids are young, giving them fun, active toys to play with is a good way to get them moving. This could be something as simple as a ball, but there are many other options. This will get them moving and having fun, and it will also help them improve their motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and other important skills.

Be a role model.

It has been shown that kids are more likely to play sports and be active if they see their parents doing those things often. If you take care of your body well, your kids will notice and try to do the same. Stay active yourself, and you’ll be a good example for your kids. This will affect what they think is normal and healthy.

Play with your child and get moving together.

Encourage your child to be active by playing with them and getting some exercise together as a family. Take them on a bike ride or a walk in the park and add some fun by playing a game or giving them a task. If you use your imagination, there are a lot of options. Make games and exercise a regular part of their week, and they will do them without thinking.

Stop watching TV.

Watch less TV and use your computer less. The general rule is that kids shouldn’t spend more than one to two hours a day in front of a screen. This includes TV, movies, computers, and video games. Screens aren’t always bad, and they have their place and time, but you shouldn’t always use them. Then, when they have free time, they can do more physical things.

Let them try out different games and sports.

Helping your kids find a sport or activity that they love and are passionate about is one of the best ways to get them to love exercise and make it a lifelong habit. Put them in different groups or coaching programmes that are right for their age. For example, at Kinetic Kids Academy, kids of all ages can take part in coaching programmes for football, tennis, cricket, dodgeball, and many other sports. These programmes are made to fit the level of each child.

Try to get them involved in as many different games and activities as you can. Give them a chance to try something new and see what sticks.

Kinetic Kids Academy is a great place to send your kids if you want them to be active, have fun, learn new skills, and make new friends all at the same time. Not only do we have experts who teach kids how to swim and play tennis, but we also have many other programmes, clubs, and facilities for kids.

We have plenty of different classes to choose from: football development centre, dodgeball evening sessions and we even work in multiple schools delivering their whole extra-curricular programme.
